- All students will treat Ms. Cathey and substitute teachers with respect.
- We will avoid tattle-telling in the classroom.
- All students will always be truthful.
- We will try our hardest when we do our work.
Rationale
- Learning to treat others with respect is a very important skill that I believe students should start to learn at an early age. As our children grow older there will be many scenarios where they have to work with others (after school jobs, sports, etc.). When students are able to treat coworkers, teammates, and classmates with respect; it helps to make a happier classroom.
- In addition to learning how to treat classmates with respect, it is important that students learn how to treat adults (teachers, parents, etc.) with respect. This will come in handy when they are older and work jobs. It is important that they know how to treat managers and those higher up.
- Tattle-telling has such a negative effect in the classroom and I want to try and avoid negative feelings in my classroom. I want my students to ultimately learn how to solve conflicts amongst themselves. However, I want them to be able to solve them in a civil, and calm manner.
- Honesty is a very important value in society and I think it is important for my students to learn honesty and practice it in the classroom. This will hopefully lend to eliminating the possibility of cheating in my classroom.
- I want my students to learn the value and meaning of hard work. When students start to learn what it means to try their hardest, I hope it inspires them to give everything that they do in school their 100% effort! I want to teach this to my students so that they know that they are all smart, strong, and very capable.
- My rules will always have their spot on my teacher website but I will also have my classroom rules posted in my classroom on their own bulletin board. This way the students are able to see them every day and, any administration will be able to see it when they walk into the classroom.
